Tech-brain

since 2026 · ongoing

A technical second brain for the home lab: hosts, services, ports, DNS, configs, runbooks, commands, snippets and a journal — one place, one search.

Welcome to your technical second brain. Everything a home lab scatters across terminals, wikis and memory, in one dark room with one search box: the hosts (a Proxmox, a TrueNAS), the map of services, the ports each one listens on, DNS and the reverse proxy; then the knowledge — snippets of code worth keeping, configs like a Traefik docker-compose, runbooks such as backing up the Proxmox VMs, the commands one always looks up, and a journal. Counters on the dashboard, favourites, what was touched last.

It is the kind of tool that is only as good as the discipline of writing things down the day you learn them, so it is built to make that cheap: a search that reaches everything, ⌘K, and nothing to fill in but the thing itself.

Prompt

The door to the tech-brain is a prompt. Evening flow: a search box that is also a command line — start <name> creates or spins up a project, overview shows every project at a glance, continue [name] jumps back into the last one active; arrows to navigate, enter to run, tab to complete. Three buttons underneath for the same three verbs. Two skins: a warm blurred sunset for the evening, and a green phosphor terminal, Evening flow_, for those who prefer it. It is the METIS launcher, Metis being the knowledge base.
