Lorenz animation

since 2026 · ongoing

A sketch: the Lorenz attractor drawn on a phosphor oscilloscope, in WebGL — drag to orbit, scroll to zoom, three sliders.

A sketch. The Lorenz attractor — σ = 10, ρ = 28, β = 8/3, the two wings of the butterfly — traced the way an old oscilloscope would trace it: a bright bead running along the curve, a green phosphor trail that fades behind it, the glow bleeding on the black. Channel 1 on x, channel 2 on y. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom, and three sliders exposed — persistence, glow, speed — because nothing is sown without saying so.

One HTML file, no library, WebGL by hand. The seed of a larger series on animation for the web.
